Dare Fasasi, also known as Baba Dee, brother of late Olanrewaju Fasasi, alias Sound Sultan, has slammed his late brother’s friends, who he termed ‘hypocrites’ in the Nigerian entertainment industry for not reaching out to Sound Sultan’s family, especially his wife, after he passed away on Sunday, 11th July 2021 after battling cancer.
The news of his death had entertainers in Nigeria sending condolence messages on social media and referring to his works while alive.
Some artists like Tuface Idibia, Faze and Blackface reunited to pay tribute to the legend as they performed at ‘A Night of Tribute’ organized in memory of the ‘Jagbajantis’ crooner. Other Nigerian stars and friends of Sound Sultan went on social media to mourn the artiste.
Baba Dee, in a message on his Instagram page, lashed out at those who took to social media to mourn the singer but did nothing in private like reaching out to his wife.
He, however, did not mention names but described them as fake friends, whose deaths will be used to generate social media content.
He wrote on his Instagram handle @babadeeninja:
“Fake friends. Not a call to his wife, didn’t bother to attend his memorial event on a sit-at-home Saturday yet posting pictures and video on social media”.
Baba Dee, who is the older brother of Sound Sultan, has been based in Sweden for a long time. He and his late brother, Sound Sultan co-owned the record label NaijaNinjas.
Baba Dee gained public recognition when he won the Lekki Sun Splash competition in 1995. He dropped his debut album, ‘Most Wanted’ in 1997 and has since gone on to garner international accolade, Baba Dee also an actor has starred in numerous television series, as well as hosting his own show.
In 2014, he teamed up with his younger brother, Sound Sultan to produce Naija Ninja’s award-winning debut movie, ‘Head Gone,’ which featured 2face, Ali Baba, EniolaBadmus, Akpororo among others.Baba dropped a new jam ‘Wey The Money’ which features Terry G. Birthday shout out to the Big Bad Wolf!
With five musical albums and several awards, He returned to his first love, which is directing. He was one of the pioneer video directors that revolutionized the Nigerian music video industry.
