A Federal High Court sitting in Bwari, Abuja on Wednesday, 13th January 2021, has halted the criminal complaint case instituted by a lawyer in a Magistrate Court against 50 Activists and Celebrities for allegedly instigating the violence that trailed the aftermath of the 2020 #EndSARS Protest.
The presiding Judge, Bello Kawu, in his ruling also restrained the Nigerian Police from arresting and taking any action against the #EndSARS activities. The order was given, following an application brought before the court by one of the activists Mr. Deji Adeyanju, asking for a review of the substantive matter before the magistrate.
The Magistrate had previously ordered the Commissioner of Police in the FCT to launch an investigation following a complaint filed by Mr Kelechukwu Okeke. Mr Okeke had alleged that the protest which was supported by those joined in the suit led to him losing properties and created fear among residents of the Federal Capital Territory.
