Nigerian music artiste, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as Tuface or 2Baba, has expressed disappointment at the management of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) over its poor handling of passengers travelling abroad.
2Baba took to his Instagram page on Tuesday, 20th April 2021, where he called out the organization, complaining about its poor work ethics in a series of videos he made at an airport on his Instagram story. He revealed that he and some Nigerians were unable to make it back to the country and were stranded at the airport because the NCDC portal was down.
The singer said the compulsory COVID-19 test portal collects fifty thousand Naira per passenger, but even after payments were done, it failed to deliver the QR code for each person, causing passengers to get stranded at the airport, as they were not allowed to proceed on their trip, despite the fact that the circumstances in which they found themselves was not their making.
2Baba captioned one of the videos on his instagram story and also his instagram feed.
He further expressed frustration at the way and manner the NCDC staff have caused unnecessary hardship for travelers stating that he made several calls to the NCDC office and no one answered the call.
“NCDC; you people better wake up. You are causing serious hardship for people travelling. You will be at the airport, they tell you to pay or bring several things. What is this? What kind of wickedness is all this one? This office knows that people travel every second, yet, they are closed. We called their line, nobody picked up. What kind of evil is that? Just imagine Nigerians stranded at the airport because of some useless people. This is unacceptable. It is annoying. It is totally annoying. This is wickedness.” 2baba said in the video
Other passengers shown in the video expressed their disappointment at the NCDC for causing delays in their flights.
The NCDC website has it stated that a pre-boarding COVID-19 PCR test MUST be done by travelers within 96 hours before departure.
Also, tests done more than 96 hours before departure are not valid and passengers will not be allowed to board and the price of the test ranges from 36,000 thousand Naira to 50,400 thousand Naira on the payment portal.
